| TI Media shares indicated up 12 percent after report of Mediaset interest Sep 17th 2012, 07:29 MILAN | Mon Sep 17, 2012 3:29am EDT MILAN (Reuters) - Shares in Telecom Italia Media (TCM.MI) were delayed from opening and indicated up 12 percent in early morning trade on Monday after reports said several companies have expressed interest for the small Italian broadcaster including sector leader Mediaset (MS.MI). The interest of Mediaset, controlled by the family of former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, is likely to give the planned sale of Telecom Italia Media a political twist ahead of a general election next year. An acquisition by Mediaset is also expected to encounter antitrust problems. A source close to the matter told Reuters there are about 10 expressions of interest, including from Mediaset, for the TV company that Telecom Italia (TLIT.MI) wants to sell to help cut its debt. The deadline to present non-binding offers is September 24. | |
